Is this system architecture worth considering?
Anker SOLIX X1 is useful to compare because it is not locked to one electrical pathway. The Australian X1 family includes hybrid single-phase and three-phase configurations as well as an AC-coupled storage pathway, so the same brand can be considered for a new solar-and-battery system or some existing-solar retrofits.
That flexibility makes the exact X1 configuration important. A quotation should name the power module, phase, battery module quantity, total usable storage and whether Power Dock Pro or other backup hardware is included.
How is the system actually built?
In a hybrid X1 design, the solar array and battery sit within the coordinated hybrid platform. In an AC-coupled X1 design, storage can be added alongside an existing solar inverter instead of automatically replacing it. Those two designs solve different jobs and should not be compared only by battery kWh.
Anker's current Australian warranty lists separate X1 power modules and battery modules in 5 kWh steps through larger stack configurations, plus single-phase and three-phase Power Dock Pro equipment. The installed combination determines inverter power, storage capacity and backup behaviour.
Power Dock Pro is a distinct system component. If a proposal relies on whole-home backup, phase management or broader energy control, ask whether the required Dock and switching equipment appear on the equipment schedule.
Product families worth knowing
| Product family | Role | Buyer check |
|---|---|---|
| X1 Hybrid | Hybrid solar and storage platform | Single or three phase, exact power module, PV inputs and battery-module count. |
| X1 AC-Coupled | Battery retrofit pathway | How the existing solar inverter is retained and what power/backup limits apply. |
| X1 Battery Modules | Modular LFP storage | Installed kWh, future expansion rules and aggregate charge/discharge power. |
| Power Dock Pro | System integration and backup hardware | Whether it is required and included for the proposed phase and backup design. |
Compatibility, backup and future changes
Do not treat ‘X1’ as a single product. The power module, phase and battery-module combination should be recorded on the quote and commissioning paperwork.
For existing solar, compare the AC-coupled X1 option with other retrofit architectures before deciding to replace a working PV inverter. The better design depends on inverter age, switchboard layout, backup requirement and network approval.
Backup power should be specified in kW and by protected circuits. Battery capacity in kWh tells you how long stored energy may last, not which loads can start or run at once.

Warranty, monitoring and support
Anker SOLIX's Australian warranty policy effective 23 March 2026 lists 10 years for X1 power modules, X1 battery modules and Power Dock Pro. Battery coverage also includes model-specific throughput limits and a 70% retained-capacity condition, so the exact module configuration matters.
Keep the installation date, serial numbers, owner account, current warranty policy and commissioning documents. Accessories such as sensors and communications devices can have different warranty periods from the main battery and power hardware.
Where does this architecture fit well?
- New solar plus battery where a coordinated hybrid system suits the design.
- Existing solar where an AC-coupled pathway may preserve a worthwhile inverter.
- Homes needing a modular storage range rather than one fixed battery size.
- Single- or three-phase properties where the exact X1 power module and backup hardware are properly specified.
Another architecture can still be a better fit when the existing solar equipment is worth retaining, the preferred battery is incompatible, the backup requirement is simpler, or the extra ecosystem features do not justify their installed cost. Compare the system architectures ↗.
What should you check on the quote?
- Is this X1 hybrid or X1 AC-coupled?
- Which power module, phase and AC rating are included?
- How many X1 battery modules make up the quoted storage?
- Is Power Dock Pro included and what does it control?
- What continuous backup power and circuits are included?
- Which warranty throughput limit applies to the exact battery stack?
Also confirm the exact model is currently approved for the proposed Australian/Victorian connection and that export-control or communications requirements are included where they apply. See the Victorian smart-inverter guide ↗.
Quick buyer questions
Can Anker SOLIX X1 be added to existing solar?
Potentially. Anker publishes an AC-coupled X1 pathway for retrofit use. Whether it is appropriate depends on the existing inverter, switchboard, phase arrangement and backup requirement.
Does every X1 system include Power Dock Pro?
No. Treat Power Dock Pro as a separate component and ask whether it is required and included for the proposed system and backup design.
What is the Australian X1 warranty?
The current Australian policy lists 10 years for specified X1 power modules, battery modules and Power Dock Pro, subject to the policy conditions and battery throughput limits.
