Explore the data

The solar adoption tools and 2026 fleet-age report use dated Clean Energy Regulator source files. Other datasets are added only when their source, geography and limitations can be explained clearly enough to make the numbers useful rather than misleading.

Put the numbers in local context.

Solar adoption can vary substantially between parts of Melbourne. Our suburb guides bring relevant postcode and area data together with local network, housing and planning context, while making clear when a statistic describes a postcode rather than every home in a suburb.

Rules for publishing a number

Useful data is more than a chart. A figure is not published until we can explain what it measures and trace it back to the source.

1. Define it

Geography, period, unit, denominator and whether the value is measured or derived must be explicit.

2. Date it

We keep the source, release date, download date and calculation method so a published figure can be checked later.

3. Challenge it

Postcodes are spot-checked, totals are reconciled where possible, provisional data is flagged and misleading comparisons are withheld.

See how the figures are checked.

The methodology page explains the calculations, known breaks in the data, geographic limits and corrections policy.
